I'M LOVING this kinda goth/rock/rockabilly/Burton-esque inspired cool editorial in American Vogue Annie Leibowitz shot of Jack White & Karen Elson.
I've long mused upon the hype around Jack White. I love the White Stripes and definitely thought he was a talented boy, this strange, deathly pale, introverted person. but after seeing him live with The Dead Weather, I have joined the faithful. The guy is amazing, he's like the musical genius Johnny, in 'The Devil went down to Georgia', "Johnny said, Devil just come on back, if you ever wanna try again, I done told you once you son of a bitch, I'm the best there's ever been"
Jack White sang, played drums and played the guitar and was just fantastic with such a aura about him. It's something you can't buy, total rock God cool X factor kick-arse-ness!!
Scot Karen has been around a long time, shocking the fashion world upon her arrival onto the scene as a skinny eye-brow less waif amongst the bevy of Supermodels in. Steven Meisel shaved off her eyebrows and Jean Paul Gaultier fell in love with her, dubbing her 'Le Freak'.
Karen & Jack met when Karen was cast in the White Stripes awesome 'Blue Orchid' video:
In some ways she & Jack are the perfect match - like Tim Burton & Helena Bonham Carter, Johnny Depp & Vanessa Paradis, the quirky beauty and the 'beast'. OK let's face it, Johnny couldn't be a 'beast if he tried'. But you catch my drift!
Karen has just released a solo album, 'The Ghost who walks'.
